Kelimutu Lakes,Flores,Indonesia.

   The lake is located on the top of the mountain which has a height of 1690 above sea level is a very unique lake,This lake is very unique because it has 3 different colors,even if you pass this area by plane you will see all the beauty of this lake.                                     Kelimutu means, keli which means mountain, and mutu means to boil.Located on the Flores Island,This lake is a volcanic lake and has 3 colors that change depending on volcanic activity,and the change of color is associated with the myth of the coming disaster which is very trusted by the people around.This lake is divided into three parts, according to the color that is in the lake.The blue lake or 'Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai' is a gathering place for the souls of young people who have died.The red lake or 'Tiwu Ata Polo' is the gathering place for the souls of the deceased and during his life always committing a crime / divination.And the white lake or 'Tiwu Ata Mbupu' is a gathering place for the souls of elderly people who have died.Color changes associated with iron and sulfur gases are very high, because the mountain is still active, the refraction of the sun, and reflection of the rock wall surrounding the lake contributed to its color change, and the presence of micro biota in the water that makes it colored like that.The lake was discovered by Van Such Telen, a Dutch citizen, in 1915.                                                          Therefore we as citizens of Indonesia must come to appreciate and participate in preserving the beauty of nature in our country, and although do not believe in the myth at least we should respect the beliefs of people around.
